So, my academic blog really doesn't have anything academic on it yet.
But here's something: I have three proposals to get out by next week! One is for the Louisiana Conference on Language and Literature in March, one is for Keith's Technoculture journal, and one is for a conference called "Interdisciplinary and Intercultual Perspectives." It originally was sponsored by NAHE but is now evidently sponsored by HERA. I think the switch has something to do with taxes, but I could've read that email a little more carefully.
So... I am not sure what I want to do for the Louisiana Conference. I believe that for Keith's journal, I would like to explore the creation of identity through status updates and away messages. And as far as NAHE/HERA's conference... I also am in the "planning stages." I have a ton of work to do this week, and my mind has been racing.
Tonight I am embroiled in Feminist Rhetorics, with papers and portfolios still to grade :0.
This week I have 5 days off in a row, and boy do I need them to catch up on everything. Long live Yom Kippur. In other news, John and I are planning on quitting smoking on October 15th. This is due to the fact that we found out that we have been spending 400 dollars a month on something which practically promises to kill you in a slow and painful death. It's going to be hard, very difficult, because smoking is really ingrained into our identities.
Hmmm. The Louisiana conference is on desire. I could ABSOLUTELY do the rhetoric of smoker's desires. That has always been something I was very interested in. Yes!
